And here it should answer the one and only question ‘Can it impact any of business decisions?’. In case the answer is ‘no’ — toss it. But keep in mind that because of everyone’s different background we interpret the information differently. While big companies can afford to send every member of their management team to certain educational programs and set up a common knowledge base, it’s neither always possible nor relevant for some smaller businesses.
Still, the need to speak the same language is there. So, in my company we’ve started a book club. Reading the same books and discussing them gives us quite an understanding on how our colleagues process information, what triggers them and creates informational anchors that are applied further in a day-to-day workflow.
